Thailand cave diver dies during rescue efforts of Thai soccer team

Thailand: A former Thai navy diver died during rescue operations. He is said to have run out of air while delivering oxygen tanks to a Thai soccer team trapped in a cave complex. 12 boys and their coach are stranded underground.

According to BBC, retired Petty Officer Saman Gunan died while delivering air tanks to the stranded boys and their coach, who are in a subterranean chamber with oxygen levels running low.

Gunan and other divers navigated recently flooded passageways in the Tham Luang cave complex to reach the boys who have already been trapped for close to two weeks.

Gunan is said to have ran out of air on the way back to the surface and died.
