Three arrested for looting cash from post office

Bulandshahr: A postman and two of his accomplices were arrested this afternoon and Rs 4.6 lakh looted from a Khurja town post office was recovered from them, police said today.

The money was stolen on July 19. A retired postman, who was working as a security guard at the Head Post Office, was killed in the incident, they said.

They had stolen Rs 6.3 lakh form the post office’s chest, of which Rs 4.6 lakh has been recovered, police said.

Circle Officer (Khurja) Kishan Gopal Singh said that the breakthrough came after it was detected that three mobile phone users were frequently changing their IMEI numbers.

Devendra, a resident of Arniya village here, was taken into custody and he disclosed the names of his accomplices.

They were later placed under arrest, the officer said.
