Three of highway robbers gang nabbed, booty seized

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police have arrested three of a four-member gang of robbers and extortionists, who committed offences at late nights under the limits of Rachakonda and Hyderabad Police Commissionerates and seized a car, eight Smartphones and cash of Rs 15,000 all worth Rs 10 lakh from their possession.

According to Rachakonda police, on a tip-off, sleuths of SOT Malkajgiri Zone nabbed three criminals, who were indulging in robberies and extortions by threatening the passersby and snatching away their wallets, Cell Phones and vehicles during nights. The culprits were identified as Vorala Santosh Kumar, 20, and Ningyadi Shiva, 19, of Lenin Nagar, Huda Colony, Meerpet, Mondal Sai Kumar, 19, of Uppuguda and Raju alias Jcb of Lenin Nagar, who was absconding.

Police said all the four accused formed into a gang and were indulging in criminal activities during nights since a few years and fleeing to faraway places to enjoy luxurious life and resuming their regular “business” after returning homes.

On October 15, the gang of four after consuming liquor went to Balapur area and stopped a cab driver and forcibly snatched his car keys and took the car to Saifabad area and left him near the Tankbund and escaped with the car. In Choutuppal area they found two persons sleeping in front of a shop at Thoopranpet village and robbed them of Rs 11,000. The police apprehended Santosh Kumar, Shiva and Saikumar at Lenin Nagar. The trio confessed to have robbed passersby at LB Nagar, Balapur, Meerpet areas.
