Three Hyderabad girls win national prizes in “Litter Less Campaign”

Hyderabad: Three girls from Hyderabad won national prizes in “Litter Less campaign” which was conducted by South Asian Youth Environment Network (Sayen) and Young Reports for Environment.

According to the news published in DC, the aim of this campaign is to educate children and young people against littering. It also encourages them to make a positive choice.

During the campaign, participants were asked to investigate local issue such as waste disposal etc.

Three winners of the competition are Huma Khatoon, Marina Judy and Syeda Sameena Fatima. All are students of St. Pious X Degree College and they are in the age group of 15-18. Huma Khatoon wrote article whereas videos and images of garbage at various places in the city were captured by Judy and Fatima.

It may be mentioned that the first prize in the 11-14 age group is won by the student of an educational institution in Lucknow whereas the first prize in 19-21 age groups is won by Ahmedabad student.

Talking about her success, Huma Khatoon said that winning a national award was her passion. She also said that she was little surprised after getting selected among 1500 entries.

Meanwhile, Grace Beena Paul, Head of Zoology Department who guided her said that Ms. Huma knows the health complication of careless litter disposal.
