The opposition parties and Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (TJAC) on Monday demanded that the State Government withdraw the GOs 39 and 42 which they alleged were detrimental to the interest of farmers.
The all-party meeting, convened by TJAC at FAPCCI Auditorium on Monday, was attended by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, TJAC Chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram, TDP senior leader Ravula Chandrashekhar Reddy, BJP leader G. Madhusudan Reddy, CPI leader Palle Venkat Reddy, New Democracy leader Govardhan and others.
Addressing the meeting, Uttam Kumar Reddy said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao could not treat Telangana as his “Jagir” and take unilateral decisions which hurt the interest of farmers. He said that the anti-farmer decisions of TRS Government would be strongly opposed by the united opposition. He said that the government could not give control of village administration to Farmers’ Coordination Committees which are actually “TRS Committees”. He said that the TRS Government did not give Rs. 1,000 for Market Intervention Fund to help farmers, but it was giving Rs. 500 crore to “TRS Committees”.
Uttam Kumar Reddy informed that the Congress party was organising protest in all villages across Telangana State on October 3. He also demanded that the State Government pay Rs. 4,000 per acre input subsidy to all farmers who are growing crops, irrespective of whether or not they hold pattas.
TJAC Chairman Kodandaram described the GO 39 as unconstitutional and said that it usurps the rights of local bodies guaranteed by the Constitution of India. He said massive protests, in various forms, would be organised on October 3 across the Telangana State to oppose GO 39.
TDP leader Ravula Chandrashekhar Reddy, in his speech, was trying to misuse public funds to favour about 1.70 TRS workers in the name of Farmers Committees. BJP leader Madhusudan Reddy strongly objected to participation of Governor E.SL. Narasimhan in a land rectification programmes. He said that the Governor should have remained neutral and avoided an initiative by TRS Government which is jointly being opposed by entire opposition. (INN)
