TMC student wing leader arrested for extortion

Siliguri : The West Bengal police arrested Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) leader Tarun Sen for allegedly demanding money from a student for admission.

Sen is a leader of TMCP, the student wing of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) and was the former general secretary of Bagdogra College.

He was arrested on Saturday night and booked under Sections 341, 325, 384, 379, 506, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He has been sent to a ten-day police custody.

The case has been forwarded to Siliguri Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate court on Sunday.

Meanwhile, state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has asked the police to take strong action against these kinds of incidents. (ANI)
