Top IS leader arrested in Kabul for recruiting fighters

Kabul: A top leader from the terror outfit Islamic State (IS), responsible for recruiting fighters was arrested by special security forces during an operation here on Thursday.

The Afghan Intelligence and the National Directorate of Security (NDS), said IS terrorist was arrested by the special forces of the intelligence directorate, Khaama Press Agency reported.

According to the NDS statement, the terrorist was identified as Abdul Maheen and was arrested from the 11th Police District of the city. His deputy, Saifullah was also arrested during the same operation.

Acting on a tip-off, the two terrorists were attempting to transfer families of IS recruits from Nangarhar to Jawzjan province.

The two terrorists confessed to their crime and are currently in NDS custody for further investigation. (ANI)
