TPCC announces boycott of MLC polls in protest

Hyderabad: TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday announced that they were boycotting the March 12 MLC elections under MLA quota protesting immoral activities of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to lure the Congress MLAs to join his TRS party.

Speaking to the media along with CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka here on Monday, the TPCC chief said KCR has been wooing MLAs from the other parties despite the Congress extending support to the TRS in the election of Deputy Speaker of State Assembly. He also said the status of MLC elections, which are meant for election of public representatives to the House of Elders, have been reduced to village level elections. He alleged that CM KCR had indulged in such immoral acts to win the fifth MLC seat despite not having enough numbers to win it.

Commenting on Parliamentary elections, Uttam said the elections would decide the next Prime Minister of the country and exhorted the people of the State to decide whether they want their leader Rahul Gandhi or Narendra Modi as their next Prime Minister. He said the State would be developed if Rahul Gandhi becomes Prime Minister.

Targetting the ruling TRS, the TPCC chief said the TRS government could do nothing for the development of the State and welfare of people despite having 16 MPs at its disposal. He said the TRS did not have moral right to seek vote from people of the State as it did not achieve any of the promises made to the State in the AP Reorganization Act. Reddy told the people that the vote in favor of the TRS was like a vote thrown in a drain.
