TPCC holds EC responsible for missing of voters’ names

Hyderabad: TPCC election commission coordination committee convener G. Niranjan on Saturday alleged that the Election Commission was solely responsible for the missing names of thousands of voters in the State. He also alleged that the mistakes committed by the EC cost scores of people to lose right to vote. He wondered as to how the EC would conduct gram panchayat elections in the State due to be held in January next year.

In a statement here today, Niranjan said the Election Commission had advanced the elections and held them so early despite it had time till March 5, 2019. “The decision of the EC to hold the Assembly elections so early led to reduction of time limit to make any kind of additions and deletions in the voters’ list from the usual two months to just 15 days. This has left with almost no time for the EC and the people to ensure error-free voters’ list. He also alleged that the EC also misled the State High Court by claiming it had completed the process of preparation of an error free voters’ list in the State.
