TPCC urges CM to fix quota to BC Sub – Castes as per their population

Hyderabad: TPCC chief spokesperson Dasoju Shravan here on Sunday urged Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao to provide reservations to BC sub-castes as per their population in the upcoming Panchayat Raj elections in the State. He brought to the CM’s notice that the High Court had also directed the State government to provide reservations to the BCs as per their population in the State. He also addressed a letter to the Chief Minister on the issue.

Speaking to mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan today, Shravan said the State government had issued orders fixing the BC quota at 34 percent as per the newly enacted Telangana State Panchayat Raj Act-2018. He said the provision of 34 percent quota to the BCs would be a grave injustice to them as their population exceeded 52 percent as per the intensive household survey held by the State government in the year 2014.
