SRINAGAR: Protesting the ongoing abuse and assault on Kashmiri Muslims living in Jammu and other parts of India, various Kashmir-based-trade organisations called for shutting down of their shatters on Friday.

In a response to a call given by Kashmir Chambers of Commerce and Industries (KCCI), the trader’s bodies including Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Association (KTMA),Kashmir economic alliance (KEA), Shehar-e-Khaas traders’ coordination committee and Valley-based transporters held a protest rally at the City Centre Lal Chowk.

All shops and business establishments were closed and scores of traders and manufacturers assembled around the historic Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower).

Carrying several placards and banners in their hands, the protesters termed the several statements of politicians, asking Indian citizens to boycott Kashmir products, as “economic terror”.

The protesters also raised slogans strongly denouncing the communal attacks against Kashmiris.

The trader’s bodies had on Thursday called for shutdown after 3:30 pm over harassment against the students and traders of Kashmiri origin at many places such as Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jammu following a recent militant attack in Pulwama that killed over 40 CRPF troopers.
