Traffic violators will face cancellation of licence – Penalty Point System introduced

Hyderabad: On violation of traffic rules, police will take action under penalty point system which may lead to cancellation of driving licence.

Commissioner of Hyderabad City Police, M. Mahender Reddy told that as per the GO issued by Transport Dept., penalty point system is being introduced. If the driver’s penalty points exceed 12 within a span of 24 months, his/her driving licence will be cancelled for three years. In the same manner, if the penalty points of learning licence holders exceed 5, their licence will also be cancelled. This traffic penalty system will be implemented from 1st August.

For creating awareness among the citizens, the police is organizing programs. Police appeal to the people to follow traffic rules. In order to maintain transparency in the functioning of the police, M-Wallet app was introduced in the e-challan system.

It may be mentioned that the Transport Department of the State had recently introduced M-wallet app. The benefit of this app is that the citizens need not have to keep the original documents while driving a vehicle. In this application, driving licence, registration certificate and road permit could be scanned and kept for inspection.
