Training for Election Duty Staff on Mar 17, 18: Dana Kishore

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner and District Collector Dana Kishore has said today that special training programme will be held for the polling staff on March 17 and 18, for the lok sabha elections.

In a press note here, he said that nearly 10,000 employees engaged in election duty will be given training in two shifts at eight centers. Stating that election staff were requesting for exemption from duty on various grounds, he made it clear that there will not be any exemption from election duty. For those who are seeking exemption on medical grounds, a special medical board will be set up to examine them and certify. Exemption will be granted only if the medical board recommends for it. In the meantime, the staff should appear for the training programme without fail.

Dana Kishore said that the heads of department of the concerned employees appointed for polling duty should ensure that the staff attended to the election duty. Otherwise, action will be taken against them also. He warned that those abstaining from election duty will be punished under Section 134 of Peoples’ Representation Act, apart from prosecution.
