More trains on Hyderabad Metro rail line with reduced travel time

Hyderabad: From April, the travel time on the Hyderabad Metro rail line on Nagole to Miyapur stretch can be reduced from the current 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour. Also the frequency of trains on the route will be increased from 1 train every 7 minutes to 1 train every 6.5 minutes.

The number of trains on the route is also set to be increased from 18 to 22 trains.

L&TMRHL Chief Operating Officer Anil Kumar Saini said that “At present, 400 trips are being operated on the 30 km stretch. There is a demand from commuters to extend the timings of operations late into the night as well.

Accordingly, possibilities are being explored to extend services till 11.30 pm instead of the existing 11 pm, at least on weekends to start off. Morning train services could start 30 minutes late against the existing time of 6 am once the changes are in place.”

He further added that “over 1.60 lakh cards were sold till date with about 1,000 smart cards being sold every day. About 50 per cent of passengers were using smart cards and plans were being made to offer monthly passes shortly.”
L&TMRHL mall at Punjagutta is expected to be opened in a week. It is spread over 5 lakh square feet, while the Hitech City mall covers 2 lakh square feet.

Now people can look forward for shopping and watching movies at the mall. L&TMRHL malls are also being constructed at Erramanzil, and Moosarambagh.
