Transfer of 6 High Court Judges initiated, 4 transferred to parent HC’s

The Centre has issued the transfer notification of six High Court Judges today following the Collegium’s recommendation of the same.

The Collegium in a way of four resolutions passed on October 29 had recommended the return of four Judges back to their parent High Courts reported Bar and Bench.

The six judges who shall be transferred are Justice Nirmaljit Kaur, Justice Pavankumar Bhimappa Bajanthri, Justice Satrughana Pujahari, Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, Justice Raghvendra S Chauhan and Justice Rajiv Sharma.

Justice Nirmaljit Kaur serving at the Rajasthan High Court since 2012 is transferred to Punjab Haryana High Court.

She was the whistleblower in a 2008-scam case which involved the-then sitting High Court Judge in a bribery case where the Advocate’s clerk had dropped a bag of Rs 15 Lakhs for Justice Nirmal Yadav at her doorstep.

She informed the Police about the incident following which a CBI probe was initiated.

Serving Madras High Court after appointment in November 2017, Justice Satrughana Pujahari was transferred to Orissa High Court.

Karnataka High Court Judge Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan was transferred to the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh High Court at Hyderabad.

Uttarakhand High Court Judge Justice Rajeev Sharma was transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Justice Pavankumar B Bajanthri was transferred to Karnataka High Court from Punjab and Haryana High Court to the Karnataka High Court while Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad who has been serving Orissa High Court since March 2015 has been transferred to the Jharkhand High Court.

Justice Nirmaljit Kaur, Justice Pavankumar B Bajanthri, Justice Satrughana Pujahari and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad were transferred to their parent High Courts.

The repatriation recommended by the Collegium took place in a way of four resolutions on October 29.

The transferred judges have been notified to assume their charge on or before November 22.
