Transferred IPS officer accuses YSRCP’s Vijaysai Reddy of levelling false allegations; lodges complaint

Srikakulam: An Andhra Pradesh top cop on Thursday filed a complaint against YSR Congress parliamentarian Vijaysai Reddy for leveling false allegations against him before the Election Commission of India.

A Venkataratnam, who was transferred by the poll body ahead of the upcoming polls, filed a complaint against the YSRCP leader claiming that Reddy had complained against the senior police official and gave out false information with an intention to damage his reputation.

Speaking to ANI, Srikakulam DSP Chakravarty confirmed that Venkataratnam has lodged a complaint against Reddy. However, no FIR has been filed in the matter, he added.

Earlier this week, the Election Commission of India (ECI) transferred three IPS officers after YSRCP leaders accused them of working in favor of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

The EC, in its order, stated that the immediate subordinates of these officers will take charge.

The three officers including the complainant were ordered to report to the police headquarters and not take-up any election-related duty.
