Triple Talaq Bill: AIMPLB member Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas explains Govt’s intention

New Delhi: Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas, member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board explained the intention of the government of India behind bringing Triple Talaq Bill.

He said that the bill is the beginning of interference in the Muslim Personal Law.

Explaining how this bill interferes Islamic Shariat, he said that after the declaration of “Triple Talaq” as unconstitutional by Supreme Court, there was no need for any legislation. He also claimed that during the court proceeding, Attorney General of India said the government is against of any kind of Talaq.

Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas further alleged that the government may bring a law for all types of Talaq.

Commenting on the provisions of the Triple Talaq Bill, he said that the bill is against the rights of Muslim women. He also said that there is a contradiction in the bill as it says that Triple Talaq is null and void and at the same time punishes for the same act. He further questioned how a person who is imprisoned can take the responsibility of maintenance of his wife and children.
