Triple Talaq Ordinance: Muslim Personal Law Board likely to challenge it in SC

Hyderabad: Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rehmani, Secretary, All India Muslim Personal Law Board while talking to Staff Reporter of Siasat Urdu Daily told that the board is reviewing the ordinance on Triple Talaq. A decision will be taken soon to challenge the said ordinance in the Supreme Court.

He further expressed his concern that the attitude of Central Govt. is undemocratic.

It may be mentioned that this bill has been passed by Lok Sabha and it is pending in Rajya Sabha.

Maulana Rehmani pointed out two contradictory issues in the ordinance. On the one hand, it says that if Triple Talaq is pronounced, it will not be effective and on the other hand, three years imprisonment has been suggested for the husband.

It is worth noting that when Triple Talaq remains ineffective, how punishment can be imposed.

The legal committee of Personal Law Board is reviewing the Ordinance and a decision will be taken soon for challenging it in the Supreme Court.
