TRS public meeting must be called ‘KCR Kshamapana Sabha’: Uttam

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has cautioned the people of Telangana against the tactics being used by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao to cheat them again.

Addressing three separate tele-conferences with over 30,000 booth-level and mandal presidents across the Telangana State on Saturday, Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the likely decision of KCR to hold early elections for Telangana Assembly was nothing but a silent confession of his defeat. “Tremendous public response to the recent visit of Congress president Rahul Gandhi to Hyderabad had sent shockwaves among TRS leaders. With the Congress party gaining strength organisationally across the State, KCR has already sensed a humiliating defeat in next polls. As a last attempt to protect his party from the rising Congress wave, the Chief Minister is going for early polls. But KCR must realise that he cannot stop a Congress Tsunami by any means,” he said.

Commenting on the public meeting being organized by TRS on Sunday, Uttam Kumar Reddy asked the Chief Minister to change its name from “Pragathi Nivedana Sabha” to “KCR Kshamapana Sabha” (Apology Meeting). “KCR has failed on fronts. His government did not fulfil a single major electoral promise. Instead of shamelessly claiming that the TRS Government has achieved something, KCR should apologize to people for his failures,” he said. “KCR should apologize to Muslims and STs for not implementing 12% reservation. He should apologize to Dalits and Girijans for not giving three acres of land. He should seek apology from jobless youth for not creating jobs or filling up vacancies. The Chief Minister owes an apology to women for not giving them their deserved rights and due share in power,” he said.

“If TRS is confident of its popularity, then why is it holding a mass public meeting by spending over Rs. 300 crore and misusing entire official machinery? If common people are already with TRS, then whom is it trying to impress?” he asked while claiming that people are now with the Congress party. By organising a mass public meeting, KCR is trying to create a false impression that his party was still enjoying public support. “KCR cheated the common people with fake promises. He had spent a lavish lifestyle throughout his regime. He neither allowed common people to enter Pragathi Bhavan nor did he himself come out it to know and resolve problems being faced by citizens of Telangana. Having realised that TRS would be completely washed out in next elections, KCR is enacting a new drama by holding its premier titled “Pragathi Nivedana Sabha’ on September 2. He lived in his own imaginary world for four-and-a-half years and now trying to create an illusion of development,” he said.

“KCR’s sins toward people of Telangana are unpardonable. He played with the lives and careers of lakhs of students by not implementing Fee Reimbursement scheme. While he ensured construction of his palatial bungalow Pragathi Bhavan in nine months by spending over Rs. 500 crore, he showed no interest in constructing promised double bed room houses for poor. Farmers were subjected to continuous harassment by not undertaking the crop loan waiver scheme in a single take. TRS Government humiliated Dalits, Girijans, BCs and other groups on multiple occasions. Despite all these shameful acts, it is strange that KCR was holding a public meeting to claim credit for some undefined ‘achievements’,” he said.

He also alleged that the TRS was spending illegal wealth that it accumulated during the last four years from Andhra contractors on its public meeting. He alleged that TRS was assembling the crowd in the meeting by paying Rs. 500 per head. “TRS Government or the party never helped the families of over 4,000 farmers who committed suicide. But it has hundreds of crores to waste on publicity,” he said.

Calling KCR an agent of BJP and Prime Minister Narender Modi, Uttam Kumar Reddy reiterated that voting for TRS would be like voting for BJP. He said KCR met PM Modi thrice in the recent past. But he did not speak a single word regarding 12% reservation for Muslims. Stating that TRS had no moral right to seek votes from the Muslims, he demanded that KCR should apologise for cheating the community.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party was fully ready to face elections, whenever they are held. He asked party cadre to check the electoral rolls of their respective polling booths and approach authorities if there were any discrepancies.

Earlier in the day, Uttam Kumar Reddy participated in the swearing-in-ceremony of NSUI office bearers. Speaking on the occasion, he asked NSUI members to take up mass contact programmes to expose the failures of TRS Government and also to brief the people on what Congress party plans to do for people when it is voted to power in next elections.
