Trump thanks five former US presidents for hurricane relief work

Washington D.C. [United States]: United States President Donald Trump has appreciated and thanked all five of his living predecessors on Saturday for their work to raise funds to help victims of recent hurricanes.

“As we begin to rebuild, some of America’s finest public servants are spearheading the One America Appeal. Through this effort, all five living former presidents are playing a tremendous role in helping our fellow citizens recover,” ABC news quoted Trump, as saying in a video message.

“To presidents Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama, Melania and I want to express our deep gratitude for your tremendous assistance,” he added.

The five former presidents are coming together for the “One America Appeal” concert at Texas A&M University’s Reed Arena to raise money for hurricane relief efforts.

The event will feature country music artists Alabama, the Gatlin Brothers, Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keene and others.

Trump also hailed the resiliency of the American people following the devastation of this year’s deadly hurricanes and wildfires.

CNN quoted a White House official as saying that Trump was “honored to be given an opportunity to participate in relief and recovery efforts,” adding that the President “encourages all Americans to be as generous as they can in helping storm survivors through this difficult time.”

According to the report, funds collected through concert ticket sales will be distributed through various organizations in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. (ANI)
