TS: Govt. treasury goes empty, no money to pay salaries

Hyderabad: Since Govt. of TS has no money in its treasury, it is not possible for it to pay salaries to its employees.

It is reported that Govt. has been releasing amounts for various works but salary bills are not being cleared from the Finance Dept. The concerned departments are being told that they should manage the salaries of their employees from other sources this month. The balance amount would be released next month.

The worst situation of Govt. Treasury was brought to the notice of the authorities six months back many a time but the Dept. of Finance contradicted it.

An official of the Govt. informed that Govt. of TS has been borrowing money from various banks for taking up new ventures. Now that, there is a hurdle in borrowing the money, budget is not being released for payment of salaries. Even for welfare schemes, there is no money available. Govt. has been meeting its expenses borrowing money from Municipalities and other institutions.

It is reported that in order to fill the treasury of the Govt., heavy fines are being imposed by various departments.

Govt. of TS was expecting grants from Central Govt. but no provision has been made in the recently presented budget.

It is being said that under the pretext of ensuing elections, all the payments would be stopped once again.
