TS schemes ideal to Nation: KTR

Hyderabad: IT & Municipal Administration Minister K Tarakarama Rao today said the infant State of Telangana has been implementing such schemes that they teach lessons to the entire nation to study and replicate the same.

Along with Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, MP Vinod Kumar and others, KTR participated in some developmental programs and inaugurated polytechnic building and a godown building at Sardarpur village in Rajanna Siricilla district. He said the Telangana Government waived off Rs 17,000 crore crop loans as against the Centre waived only Rs 55,000 crore crop loan in the entire country.

This can be a fine example to the progressive ideas of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who has been formulating many schemes for the benefit of the farmers, he said. The IT Minister also slammed the Opposition parties for “stalling” projects and making baseless allegations against the government. Despite this, KCR, unlike other States, has nurtured an innovative plan of land survey and offer farm investment scheme to offer farmers Rs 8,000 per acre for two crops from next Kharif.

When TRS MP B Vinod Kumar announced this in Parliament during the session, Home Minister Rajnath Singh was surprised and sought to know whether the farmers will have to return the amount. Vinod informed the House that the Chief Minister has conceived the scheme to help farmers to get rid of debts from money lenders. He also said Punjab, which is considered “seed bowl” of the country has sent an official team to Telangana to study the farm loan waiver scheme in the State. KCR had an idea of turning agriculture into a festival that fetches better returns by increasing farm productivity.

The Congress leaders should recognize such historic development programs instead of making useless comments, he charged. During 70 years of Independence, the successive governments had ignored the plight of the farmers, irrigation projects and the poor, he charged. Telangana people faced several problems during the undivided Andhra Pradesh and achieved Statehood through prolonged struggle. After forming the government of its own, the Telangana State surpassed chronic power crisis and providing 24-hour power supply to all sections now. The farmers faced shortage of seed, fertilizers and irrigation waters during the previous regime and now the TRS Government has addressed that problem and kept adequate stocks in districts and towns, he added.

KTR exuded confidence that the State would receive good rains and farmers would be in smiles as both KCR and irrigation minister T Harish Rao were trying to complete the projects at the earliest. The Agriculture Minister said KCR will keep the promise of irrigating one crore acres by completing all irrigation projects.  (NSS)
