Twin MLAs issue: Uttam threatens to file contempt case against govt

Demanding that the State government immediately reinstate expelled Congress MLAs — Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and SA Sampath Kumar, TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy today said his party would file a contempt of the court petition if the government failed to act as per the High Court judgment.

Speaking to the media after the CLP meeting at CLP Leader K Jana Reddy’s residence here on Friday, Uttam said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has scant respect for the judiciary and deliberately not honoring the High Court directive in reinstating the two Congress MLAs, who were illegally expelled from the Assembly.

The TPCC chief said they would meet Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary on June 11 under the leadership of K Jana Reddy on the issue of the two Congress MLAs. He also said they will meet Chief Secretary SK Joshi in this connection. He also announced that they will meet the President on the issue and explain to him about the “undemocratic” acts of the KCR government. He also announced that his party would hold public meetings at Khammam and Alampur on the issue. (NSS)
