LUCKNOW: In a shocking development, the Yogi Adityanath government has omitted popular tourist destination Taj Mahal from official booklet released by state’s tourism ministry.
In a bid to promote famous tourist areas in Uttar Pradesh, the state government has released the booklet that reportedly has Ganga Aarti as its cover image and the name of temples from Mathura, Ayodhya and Gorakhpur were in the list as the popular tourist destinations in the state.
However, one of the seven wonders of the world – Taj Mahal that draws millions of tourists from across the globe has been dropped from the list of tourist destinations.
The move has triggered criticism on social media. Here’s how the Twitterati responded:
By removing TAJ Mahal as tourist destination in its official tourism booklet, Yogi govt is making itself a laughing stock globally. A joke !

23% of tourists to India travel to the Taj Mahal, yet it isn't in UPTDC booklet?
Taj Mahal is not a tourist destination anymore. Yogi should declare Gorakhpur as one. Citizens should know how their tax money is wasted.

In the UP govt's new tourism booklet, the Taj Mahal is not listed as a tourist attraction. How does one even react to this insanity

Taj Mahal is a symbol of love. What do you expect from a party that thrives on hatred? I am not surprised. https://t.co/TuxogeNN8l

The UP govt can cry hoarse not acknowledging the Taj Mahal as one of the seven wonders of the world. The fact is no one believes them
In the past too, the Uttar Pradesh government led by UP CM Yogi Adityanath had not included Taj Mahal as a part of state’s cultural heritage, Hindustan Times had reported.
