Two arms smugglers held

NEW DELHI: Two alleged arms smugglers, who have supplied around 600 pistols in Delhi and the National Capital Region, have landed in the special cell’s net.

A team of Delhi Police’s special cell arrested the accused, Veer Pal and Pawan, with around 22 illegally procured pistols near Sarai Kale Khan bus terminus yesterday, the police said.

Their interrogation revealed that they have been indulging in illegal arms supply since 2013. Pawan has supplied about 500 to 600 pistols in Delhi and NCR area.

Veerpal has been previously arrested in 2016 for illegal arms peddling, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) P K Kushwaha said.

The officer added that Pawan was previously arrested in 2013 for inflicting gunshot injury on a person who objected to his interference with a DJ playing music in a marriage party at Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh.

“He was arrested in this case, but after release from court on bail, he never attended the court,” Kushwaha said.
