Mathura (UP): Two persons were today arrested from different areas in the district for allegedly transporting illicit liquor worth Rs 45 lakh, police said today.
Action on a tip-off, the police seized 500 boxes of illicit liquor at Chandanvan, Superintendent of Police (City) Shravan Kumar Singh said.
He said it was being smuggled through a container.
The police has arrested Jasvant Singh of Badhupur Mukeriyan district in Hoshiyarpur, Punjab, Singh said.
In another raid, 350 boxes of illicit liquor were seized from a man.
Both the raids were conducted on Tuesday with the help of a team of the excise department, he said.
