Two islands to come up with mud removed from Hussain Sagar Lake soon: HMDA

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority(HMDA) is working on a proposal to develop two islands on the Hussain Sagar Lake between Sanjeevaiah Park and Jal Vihar informed T. Chiranjeevulu, Metropolitan Commissioner, HMDA.
Interacting with the media on the sidelines of the Awards Distribution Function of Telangana State Open State Sailing Championships at The Yacht Club of Hyderabad at Sanjeevaiah Park in the city Wednesday evening, Chirajeevulu stated that these two Islands each spread over an acre land will come up in next four to five months.
Chirenjeevelu, who was the Chief Guest at the Awards presentation ceremony, said these Islands will be built with the dredged sediments of the lake. Already these dredged sediments are deposited and mounted in one side of the lake which can be seen he stated.
Earlier, addressing the Sailors, who came from six states—Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Chiranjeevulu said Hussain Sagar lake is one of the attractions of the 400 plus year old Hyderabad city. No other city can boast of a lake in the middle of the city like Hyderabad. It is a huge challenge to maintain the Hussain Sagar Lake which is spread over 5.7 square kilometers. Sailing is equally a tough sport. Many are afraid of water. It needs lot of courage and conviction to be a sailor. Hope these championships will produce some world class sailors in near future, he said.
Dadi Bhote, Vice President of Telangana Sailing Association, Anil Desai, member of the Association, Brig G.S. Julka, Dr. P. Rajaram, Suheim Sheik, Founder President of The Yacht Club of Hyderabad graced the function. (NSS)
