At least two militants were gunned down by the security forces in an ongoing encounter at Nowgam area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara region on Monday.
Last month, a joint team of 21 Rashtriya Rifles and the Handwara Police had gunned down a militant after a fierce gun-battle with a group of militants hidden in the area.
Earlier in April, Handwara witnessed massive clashes between the police and locals after the news spread of a girl being molested by an army soldier.
Five people were killed in firing by the security forces during the protests.
However, the girl denied the molestation allegation in a controversial video shot inside a police station in which she said that she had been under duress. (ANI)
