Tyre killers: Innovative “traffic tool” to check wrong-side driving

Noida: After Pune, Noida installed tyre killers. This traffic tool will check wrong-side driving.

According to the report published in Hindustan Times, on Monday, this traffic tool is installed at the intersection of sectors 76 and 77 in Nodia.

As per the details, this tool has sharp spikes pointing at one side. When the vehicle goes in the right direction, it will behave like a normal speed breaker. However, if someone attempts to drive a vehicle on the wrong side, it will puncture tyres.

It may be noted that earlier, Pune installed it. However, due to accidents, it was removed.

Despite tool’s failure in Pune, Noida installed it. Officials assured that it is safe for vehicles this time.
It may be mentioned that the tyre killers can bear a load of up to 40 tons. The traffic tool costs 17,000 per meter.

General Manager of Noida Authority, Mr. Rajeev Tyagi said that once people stop driving vehicles on the wrong side, tyre killers can be installed on another road.

Arrangements are also made to remove them if any kind of risk is identified. However, the decision will be taken after a week.

The authority is also planning to install tyre killers on some other roads in Nodia.
