UIDAI launches blue coloured “Aadhaar Card” – Here’s the procedure to apply

New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) launched new blue coloured Aadhaar card. It is named ‘Baal Aadhaar’ card which is for children below five years of age.

In a tweet, UIDAI wrote, “A child below 5 years of age gets a blue in coloured Aadhaar known as Baal Aadhaar. When the child becomes 5 yr old, a mandatory biometric update is required”.

In another tweet, it said, “Remember to update biometric Aadhaar data of your child at the age of 5 years and then again at the age of 15 years. This mandatory biometric update for children is FREE”.

Here’s how to get blue coloured ‘Baal Aadhaar’ card.

  1. Carry birth certificate of the child whose age is below 5 years and Aadhaar Card of one of the parents.
  2. Provide a mobile number to link to the ‘Baal Aadhaar’ card.
  3. Photo of the child will be taken at the enrollment center. However, no biometrics will be obtained.
  4. Collect acknowledgment.
  5. After verification, SMS will be sent to the registered mobile number.
  6. “Baal Aadhaar” card will be issued within 60 days after receiving the SMS.
