Underwater rail network connecting India, UAE proposed

Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government proposed an underwater rail network to connect Mumbai and Fujairah City. This proposal was made at India-UAE Strategic Conclave 2018.

As per the proposal, it will be a 2000 km long network. The speed of the rail will be 1000 km/hr, International Business Times reported.

If the project is implemented, the traveling time between India and UAE will become two hours.

This proposal was put forward by Abdulla Alshehhi, Managing Director and Chief Consultant of National Advisor Bureau Limited. He also said that the project will improve bilateral trades between UAE and India.

It will also facilitate in the export of oil from Fujairah port and water from Mumbai, he added.

It may be noted that China has also proposed underwater rail networking connecting China and Russia.
