United Airlines again in news for making nurse ‘urinate in cup’

KANSAS CITY: A Missouri woman claims that United Airlines staff forced her to ‘urinate in a cup’ after she asked cabin crew to use the restroom on a flight from Houston.

Nichole Harper told KCTV she had a sudden urge to urinate because of her overactive bladder on the flight last month to Kansas City, Missouri. She says a flight attendant told her she wasn’t allowed to stand up because the pilot was expecting turbulence. She responded by saying she was going to need a cup.

She says flight crew reprimanded her after she filled two cups. Harper says it happened less than 30 minutes into the flight.

“I really don’t want to be known as the ‘girl who peed in a cup’ but if telling my story shakes #United a little more than so be it!!” Harper wrote on Facebook.

United says it was during descent.

United Airlines issued a statement denied that its staff forced Harper to pee in a cup. United said it has reached out to Harper to “better understand what occurred.”

“Initial reports from the Mesa Airlines flight attendants indicate that Ms. Harper attempted to visit the lavatory on descent and was instructed to remain seated with the seat belt fastened per FAA regulations,” read the statement. “At no point during the flight did flight attendants suggest that Ms. Harper use cups instead of the lavatory. We have reached out to Ms. Harper to better understand what occurred and we continue to review what happened.”
