Hyderabad: Every year, Telangana Day is celebrated and awards are given to various personalities. This year, the award for journalists was not announced but some journalists submitted their applications by lobbying.
On 1st June, Mr. E. Rajender announced the names of awardees. Five photographers and videographers were given awards. Later, print media best journalist award was announced but no Urdu journalist was selected for this award. If seniority is taken into consideration, Urdu journalist should have got the award since many TRS leaders know Urdu. Urdu organizations should have invited the attention of the persons responsible for selecting the awardees but this was not done. Now, complaints are being received from each district that Urdu journalists have been neglected.
In this situation, Collector of Jagtiyal, Mr. A. Sharad Kumar is worth congratulating since he scrutinized the applications submitted by Urdu journalists at the last movement. He suggested the name of Mr. Mohammed Imran Zain, staff reporters of Rehnuma-e-Deccan. He was given an award, citation and a memento. The Collector of Jagtiyal has exhibited his love for Urdu which should be appreciated.
