Urge Muzaffarnagar administration to take appropriate steps: Balyan on gang-rapes

Muzaffarnagar: In the wake of two gang-rapes taking place in the district, Minister of State for Agriculture Sanjeev Balyan on Thursday urged the local administration to take proper actions and arrest the guilty as early as possible.

He had visited the 32-year-old Kailwada gangrape victim and assured her justice, while ordering the state police to apprehend the remaining culprits within three days.

“There have been two rape incidents and one woman has committed suicide. The suicide can be termed as ‘social murder’. The administration did not take proper actions as were expected. The people are therefore angry,” Balyan told ANI.

“I have asked the police to arrest the guilty as early as possible. I am people’s representative and it is my duty to raise their voice. I hope the administration will take appropriate action and will arrest the guilty as early as possible,” he added.

“I will discuss with the villagers and then decide. If the administration does not conduct any kind of investigation, the rest is up to the people to decide,” he further said.

In a shocking incident, a 32-year-old married woman was raped by two men two years ago. They had also filmed the entire incident and circulated the clip on the social media. The accused had been blackmailing the victim since then.

The accused had been blackmailing the victim since then. The two accused were arrested at Kailwada village near here on January 17.

The search is on for four others who had allegedly aided in the crime and were named in victim’s statement.

In another incident, a 40-year-old mother of three allegedly committed suicide in Muzaffarnagar last week after a video clip of her gang-rape was circulated on WhatsApp.

Two of the accused were arrested and sent to jail after being produced before a local court in Muzaffarnagar on Monday.
