US: 14-yr-old boy is running for governor

US: Ethan Sonneborn, 14, is running for governor in Vermont. The teenager is taking advantage of no age limit on running for governor in the constitution of the bucolic. The condition for running for governor is that the candidate only has to be lived in Vermont for at least four years.

His website claims him as a champion for middle- and working-class families, with “the right ideas” on health care reform, economic development and education

He said his decision to run grew out of his frustration with state and national politics. He learned he could, and then decided to do so. “I think if I can get one person who wasn’t involved in the political process before involved now, then my campaign will have been a success,” he said.

I think I’m the candidate who best represents the change we need, I think I’ll do better in the primary than people are expecting.” Said the 14-year-old and he measures his campaign’s success another way, too.

His opponents running for the governer’s post includes Christine Hallquist, running to become America’s first transgender governor, James Ehlers, a Navy veteran and environmentalist, and Brenda Siegel, the executive director of a dance festival.
