Use apps without downloading for Pixel, Nexus devices in India

Google had announced last year, during its I/O developer conference that Android Instant Apps will be now available in India. The Instant apps let a user use apps without them downloading.

Now, after a long wait, Pixel and Nexus users in India can use this feature. Instant apps were previously available in many other countries.

According to a report of mobigyaan, the Instant Apps feature is showing up on Nexus 6P since yesterday. It can be found under the Settings > Google menu. To turn this feature on, you only have to tap on the toggle button available at the top-right corner of the Instant Apps screen, and then tap on “Yes, I’m in” to confirm.

However, the Instant Apps feature won’t be available on all the devices. In India, it might initially be only available on Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. At this moment, apart from the Nexus 6P, we cannot verify whether the feature has reached the aforementioned Google devices in the country or not, the report adds.

The working of the Android Instant Apps is very simple. Users have to click on a link while surfing the internet. The browser checks if there is an instant app available for the website and then loads an app rather than a web page. The downloaded app is stored in the browser cache for a short time period before it is deleted.
