Hyderabad: South Zone Police of Hyderabad City raided mango godowns located at Moghalpura, Meerchowk and Rein Bazar and seized 1200 packets of China chemical powder and arrested 8 persons involved in this activity.
DCP of South Zone City Police, Mr. V. Satyanarayana told that Govt. has formulated certain guidelines for ripening the fruits which include the use of certain chemicals in air-conditioned godowns.
A case has been registered under sections 272, 273 and 336 of IPC. The arrested persons will be produced in the court of law on 13th April.
Police reported that Rajesh, a native of Maharashtra had stored huge quantities of China chemical powder at Kothapet Fruit Market. He was selling this powder to mango traders. The seized powder has been sent to forensic laboratory for chemical examination.
DCP of South Zone Police warned the mango traders against using China powder. If they do so, stern action would be taken against them.
