Uttam Kumar Reddy, Shabbir meet UMF leaders

Hyderabad: President of TS PCC, Capt. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Congress Leader of Opposition in TS Legislative Council, Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbir met the leaders of United Muslim Forum (UMF) and discussed the electoral situation. Both the leaders assured that in case of Congress assuming power, it will take positive steps for the development of Muslims in educational and economic fields. They also assured that Wakf Properties would be protected. They said that the Congress party has a comprehensive program for bringing prosperity in each of the Muslim House.

They mentioned that during Congress regime, steps were taken for providing reservation which benefited lakhs of Muslim youths.

It may be mentioned that the meeting was arranged in the office of Tameer-e-Millat, Madina Mansion, Narayanguda. On behalf of the forum, a memorandum was presented to State Congress President in which various problems relating to Muslims were highlighted. It is reported that most of the members of the forum expressed their opinion in favour of the Congress party. However, the final decision would be announced later.

Capt. Reddy told that Congress party has always been in favour of the Muslims. He pointed out that during the past four years, TRS has shown an inclination towards BJP. He assured that in case of assuming power, Congress party would take positive steps. Issues like Makkah Masjid Bomb Blast Case, Alair Encounter etc would also be resolved on priority basis.

The leaders of the forum recalled that in 2004, 2009 and 2014, they had supported the Congress Party. They also complained that TRS did not fulfil its promises including reservation issue. Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbir told that extending support to TRS would result in supporting BJP. He pointed out that during the past four years, KCR supported BJP on demonetization, GST, President’s and Vice President’s election. On the issue of Triple Talaq, TRS opposed the ordinance whereas this bill could not pass in Rajya Sabha due to the majority of the Congress. In 2019, if BJP gets a majority in Rajya Sabha, BJP would enact any laws against the Muslims and secularism.

The absence of the Vice President of the Forum, Maulana Jafar Pasha was peculiarly noted.

Present in the meeting were President of the forum, Mr. Raheemuddin Ansari, General Secretary of the forum, Mr. Muneeruddin Mukhtar, Maulana Qutubuddin Ali Husaini, Mufti Sadiq Mohiuddin, Mufti Merajuddin Ali Abrar, Dr. Mushtaq Ali, Mr. Ziauddin Nayyar, Maulana Safi Ahmed Madani and others.
