Uttam resents house arrest of MRPS leader & foiling his protest

Hyderabad: TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Wednesday wondered as to how the police could obstruct a protest program held by MRPS leader Manda Krishna Madiga against demolition of BR Ambedkar statue recently and keep him under house arrest.

During an informal chat with mediapersons here today, the TPCC president alleged that the police were behaving in a high handed manner. He also asked Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao as to what kind of message they would give to the society by such “autocratic” acts. He said they would take the issue of demolition of Ambedkar statue to the national level.

The TPCC chief alleged that the police slapped a case against party leader and Chevella sitting MP Konda Visweswar Reddy after manhandling him. On the ZPTC chairman and MPP elections, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the elections should be held directly to avoid any kind of inducements to the winners after the elections. He said they had handed over the responsibility to select the MPTC and ZPTC candidates to the local leaders.

He said they would declare the names of the first batch of candidates in the next two days. He also said they would announce the names of the ZPTC and MPP candidates wherever there was clarity. He appealed to the party leaders and workers to take the elections seriously and work hard for victory of the party. He said they were considering the suggestion of taking an affidavit from all the contesting candidates that they would not change the party after winning the elections.
