Uttar Pradesh: Two JeM men arrests by anti-terror squad

Uttar Pradesh: Two alleged members of Jaish-e-Mohammed, Shahnawaz Ahmed of Kulgam and Aqib Ahmed Maliq of Pulwama has been arrested by the anti-terror squad of Uttar Pradesh on Friday.

DGP OP Singh stated that the duo were arrested from Deoband, Saharanpur adding that Shahnawaz was a recruiter for Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), a Pakistan based terror group which claimed responsibility for the deadly Pulwama attack in which over 40 Indian jawans were martyred.

It was difficult at the moment to say whether these men came to the state before or after the attack, added the DGP.

When asked if these two men were involved in the Pulwama terror attack, he stated that “It’s difficult to tell whether they came here before the Pulwama attack or after that. The investigation is on.”

While speaking to the reporters, the DGP stated that the two men arrested are Shahnawaz Ahmad Teli from Kulgam and Aquib Ahmad Malik from Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir. Both were involved in recruiting members for the JeM.

Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed responsibility for the deadliest terror attack on security forces in Kashmir in which 49 CRPF personnel were killed when their convoy was targeted in Pulwama district on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
