Vajpayee critical: Kejriwal, Sisodia visit AIIMS

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday visited AIIMS along with his deputy Manish Sisodia to enquire about the health of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who continues to be critical.

Vajpayee, who was admitted in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on June 11, is “on life support”, according to a hospital statement.

“Myself and Manish Sisodiaji visited Atalji in the hospital. We pray for his health and fast recovery (sic),” Kejriwal said in a tweet.

Kejriwal, who turned 50 on Thursday, requested Aam Aadmi Party volunteers and his well-wishers to not celebrate his birthday in view of Vajpayee’s condition. The 93-year-old leader has been at AIIMS for the last nine weeks.

Kejriwal received birthday wishes from President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Chief Ministers of other states — West Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee and Andhra Pradesh’s N. Chandrababu Naidu, besides former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

He has asked volunteers to refrain from visiting his residence also.
