VH asks PM to punish IAS officer for insulting Mahatma Gandhi

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao on Monday demanded action against Maharashtra cadre IAS officer Nidhi Choudary for her alleged insulting tweets against Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.

Referring to the tweets, Rao said the IAS officer asked whether we need the image of Mahatma
Gandhi on the Indian currency notes and his statues across the country. He also alleged that the same IAS officer had termed the killer of Mahatma Gandhi Nathuram Godse as a great man. He demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who hails Mahatma Gandhi as a great leader at the drop of a hat, to take stern action against the errant IAS officer. Citing that Maharashtra has BJP government, Rao said such tweets by an IAS officer would send a wrong message to the people of the country.

Hanumantha Rao also said BJP MLA from Gujarat Balaraju Tapan attacked the women in the State. He said the BJP leaders were attacking women, who constitute 50 percent in the population. He alleged attacks against all sections of people have increased after the BJP Government came to power. He wondered if the countrymen were living in a democratic country or not. He said if stern action was not initiated against such anti-social elements, the country would soon have a dictator’s rule.
