Virginia Jury recommends 419 years prison time to driver

Charlottesville: The Jury in Virginia sentenced a white nationalist to life imprisonment in connection with a case where he killed a woman by ramming his car into a crowd protesting a white supremacist rally in Virginia last year.

The jury in Charlottesville, Virginia, has found James Fields, aged around 21, guilty of first-degree murder and nine other charges against him for killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer while injuring 19 other people on August 12, 2017.

The judge hearing the trial, Richard Moore, said he will decide whether to accept the jury’s recommendation at a March 29 hearing, Reuters reported.

The Jury has also recommended a total of 419 years in prison in addition to a life term for the murder.

The deceased Heyer’s mother, Susan Bro, told in court on Monday that Fields “tried to silence” her daughter, but her message will live on she said in the court.
