Want peace with neighbours, but will give befitting reply to terror attacks: Rajnath Singh

New Delhi: India wants good relations with its neighbours, but will not tolerate any terror attack and will give a “befitting response”, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said today, hours after a terror attack on an air force base in Punjab’s Pathankot district

“Pakistan is our neighbouring country. We want good relations with not just Pakistan but with all our neighbours. We also want peace, but if there is any terror attack on India, we will give a befitting reply,” he said.

A group of terrorists attacked an air force base in Punjab’s Pathankot district early on Saturday morning. Four terrorists and three soldiers were killed in the ensuing encounter.

The home minister lauded the army’s counter-terror efforts at the base, saying forces were giving a “befitting response”.

The attack comes 10 days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goodwill visit to Pakistan.
