NEW DELHI: Indian paceman Mohammed Shami on Monday has said that he wants to win upcoming ODI series against Australia and dedicate it to martyred soldiers in Pulwama attack.
“It’s very upsetting to hear about the tragic events that happened in Pulwama. They risk their lives at the borders so we Indians can sleep safe. It’s the least we can do by contributing to help the families who have lost their loved ones and we will always be by their side,” Shami told IndiaTV.
“It’s our responsibility to give back for the amount they have done for us. We Indians are safe because they’re risking their lives 24×7,” he added.
“We will do everything we can to get a series win and dedicate it to the soldiers,” Shami told.
The 28-year-old has come forward to support the families of martyrs of CRPF forces and has already donated an amount of Rs 5 lakh to the CRPF Wives Welfare Association.

Speaking to ANI on Monday, Shami said Indian cricketers will always be there for jawans who protect the border while they are playing for the country.
“When we play for our country, they stand at the borders protecting it. We stand with the families of our jawans and will always be there for them,” he said.
India are slated to play limited-overs home series against Australia, starting February 24.
Around 40 CRPF personnel were killed when a CRPF convoy, while moving from Jammu to Srinagar, was attacked by a suicide bomber in Pulwama on February 14. Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) claimed responsibility for the attack.
