New Delhi: Despite the strict laws for the protection of Waqf properties, plundering of Waqf land continues by the government and private people. Minority Affairs minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi claimed that Waqf Board is mainly responsible for the destruction of Waqf properties.
He told this while answering the questions of media persons following the first meeting of the Central Waqf Council after its reconstitution.
2-minute silence was observed at the beginning of the meeting to pay homage to the 44 CRPF Jawans killed in the terror attack in Pulwama.
According to Inquilab, Mr Naqvi told that the situation has improved as compared to the past and several Waqf properties have been retrieved. He informed that the government is constructing educational institutions for minorities on the Waqf properties. He further told that 90 pc of the Waqf records have been digitalised so far.
