The 8th board meeting of the Greater Warangal Smart City Corporation Limited held today took stock of the various projects taken up under the smart city project. The meeting also approved certain new projects to be taken up under the project.
The meeting presided over by Municipal Administration & Urban Development Secretary Navin Mitttal was attended by Municipal Administration Director Dr. T.K. Sridevi, Warangal Collector Amrapali, Commissioner of Police Sudheer Babu, Warangal Mayor N Narender, Commissioner Shruti Ojha and other officials.
The Project Management Consultant briefed the meeting about the various projects which have been tendered so far. Bid evaluation for Redevelopment of Kakatiya Musical garden which was taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 13.5 crores and the 4 roads which were taken for development as smart roads at an estimated cost of Rs 74.80 crores is in process, he said. Projects to be tendered include roof top solar project and multi level car parking project.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Navin Mittal emphasized the need to focus on those projects which have a visible and transformative impact in the lives of the citizens of the city. He agreed to a proposal to have a 100 MLD sewage treatment plant at Reddypuram. He said that every water body inlet has to be treated and ensure that new sewage is stopped. He asked the PMC to prepare a comprehensive master plan for development of Bhadrakali lake. He informed the members that money should not be constraint for the development of 1000 pillar temple surroundings and as such should be developed as per international standards.
The meeting also discussed certain projects which are to be taken up under the smart city project which include development of TSRTC bus stand, improvement of 1000 pillar precinct, improvement of Padmakshi temple, development of Bhadrakali lake front promenade, retrofitting of storm water drains, development of smart library and setting up of rain water harvesting structures at various institutions. A ropeway project to improve the connectivity between two most prominent temples in Warangal, Bhadrakali Temple and Padmakshi temple has been proposed as an additional project for which a concept feasibility note was submitted to the GWSCL.
