‘Wazir’ failed to check-mate the box-office on opening day

New Delhi : Though Farhan Akhtar and Amitabh Bachchan’s action-thriller ‘Wazir’ was hotly-anticipated, but the Bejoy Nambiar directed venture failed to impress the audience as it collected a mere Rs. 5.57 crores on its opening day.

This is of course poor by industry standards, considering the fact that this film is Bollywood’s first big release of 2016.

The movie, which has done well at premium plexes, had overseas collections of Rs. 4.07 crore. With this, the overall collections have gone to Rs. 9.64 crore. The collections are expected to increase in the weekend.

The box office is probably pegging its hopes on Sunny Deol’s comeback film ‘Ghayal Once Again’ releasing next week and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Airlift’ which opens on January 22. (ANI)
