We’ll alone depose KCR, says Uttam

Hyderabad: Claiming that Congress was stronger than all other parties at the grass root level in the State, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday asserted that his party alone was the alternative to the ruling TRS in the State.

Speaking to mediapersons after his win from Nalgonda Lok Sabha constituency, Uttam said critics had misjudged his party’s strength in the State. He clarified that his party had expected to win six seats, but managed to bag three. He said the victory of the party candidates in the State had provided the much needed relief to the party cadre in the State.

Commenting on the victory of the BJP in the State, Uttam said the BJP had won four seats by luck though the saffron party lacked strength to win the elections on its own. Reminding that the BJP had lost deposits in 104 seats in the December 2018 Assembly elections, the TPCC chief said the Assembly elections proved beyond doubt the actual strength of the saffron party, which will never be an alternative to the TRS except Congress.

He also said no discussion was held so far on the change of guard of the TPCC president’ post. Replying to a question, he said the arrogance of KCR had been shattered in the Lok Sabha elections. He also said that the defection of Congress leaders would not harm the prospects of Congress in the local bodies elections.
