WhatsApp was down last night not because of new Modi govt policy

NEW DELHI: As WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook apps continue to experience technical glitches, since last night of July 3, some trolls are forwarding silly mischievous rumours and possibly panic messages to the already jilted users.

The messages shared on WhatsApp, claimed that the Facebook-owned messaging app was down in India and to be restricted in night due to new Modi government policy.

As per the new policy, WhastApp will be ban between 11:30 PM and 6:00 AM and if anyone tries to use WhatsApp between 11.30pm and 6am, they will be fined Rs 499 by the Indian government.

Interestingly, other messages, signed by Google claimed that the outage was due to “some inconvenience in our satellite connection.”

People are simply spreading these messages without differentiating facts from fantasy.

In short, the messages are fake. Don’t believe them.

Facebook acknowledged the issue and said in a statement, “We’re aware that some people are having trouble uploading or sending images, videos and other files on our apps. We’re sorry for the trouble and are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”

Later, the company issued a statement saying that the issues had been resolved. “Earlier today, some people and businesses experienced trouble uploading or sending images, videos and other files on our apps and platforms. The issue has since been resolved and we should be back at 100% for everyone. We’re sorry for any inconvenience.”
